And I’m Not Talkin’ Beverly Hills

29 Jan

My Life in 'The Hills' and I'm not talking Beverly HillsI have lived the fortunate life I wish all had the opportunity to live, the privileged life of being born and raised on the farm. The trials and tribulations faced over the years have molded me into a well-versed adult with a passion for agriculture advocacy. Luckily, I fell in love with a young man who had the same passion for agriculture as I did. We dated through college and lived on the road traveling from stock show to stock show exhibiting cattle. Once I graduated from Missouri State University with a degree in Agriculture Communications and Agriculture Education I struggled with what I wanted to do in my life. After working in radio for a short time I followed in the footsteps of my dad and started teaching agricultural education. I loved the FFA, but felt something was missing, so my husband and I recently took a chance of a lifetime and moved to the hills of Southwest Missouri. Here we started an embryo transfer business with a good friend. Full-time farming is the life I now live and I wouldn’t change it for the world. The Ozark hills I now call home are the same hills my great grandmother homesteaded with her family at the turn of the century. She lived her entire life in these hills and wrote often about her life, neighbors, the nature around her and of family. My grandma recently gave her diaries to me and as I work to preserve her memories I would like to share them with you. As well as my life on the farm, which includes working on a daily basis alongside my husband and finishing my master’s degree while teaching a course in public relations in agriculture at Missouri State. Oh yeah I also have a small obsession with social media. So, follow along as I chronicle my life in ‘The Hills’ and no, I’m not talkin’ Beverly Hills.
